Survey on types of evidence presented in capital cases.
Capital punishment, or the death penalty, is the most severe punishment in our justice system. The types of cases that are eligible for the death penalty are unique and must be further examined. The purpose of this study is to learn about beliefs related to the types of evidence presented in capital cases. If you choose to participate, you will answer online survey questions relating to an experimental capital case vignette. You will also provide basic demographic information and answer attention check and manipulation check questions. Your participation can help inform lawyers and other legal decision-makers on how people view the type of evidence presented in death penalty cases, and can help inform future research.
The study should take around 30 minutes.
Anyone 18 years of age and over, fluent in English, and in the United States may participate.
This study will help researchers understand how people view capital cases and develop study materials for future research. Your participation can help impact legal decision-makers on what types of evidence should be presented during capital cases. The results from this study can potentially help the justice system.
