About SRM Experiments

SRM Experiments is a pilot site for you to learn about and run classic experiments in social science research. We currently include three tests—Lexical Decision Task, Pre/Post Test, and Wildcat Wells—with customizable templates that allow you to run your own version of each test. It is free to use. Simply sign up with your university email address. We are planning to add more experiments and functionality, so stay tuned and let us know what you'd like to see.

If you're a student, you can:
  1. Experience classic experiments first hand. Ever participated in an experiment created by a nobel prize winner? Have you read articles using an experiment and wanted to see how it worked? Now you can. We are building a library of classic experiments from across the behavioral sciences so you can see how science gets done.
  2. Learn to create your own experiment. Using our templates, you can create your own version of these classic experiments. We give you the ability to change experiments to create a study that tests your own hypotheses.
  3. Create a study for class: Want to impress your professor? Use our templates to create a novel study and recruit your friends to participate. We give you the data, so you can analyze for a final project or paper
If you're an instructor, you can:
  1. Demonstrate experiments in class. SRM Experiments is available anywhere. You can perform experiments during class. We have experiments that can be used in psychology, health, economics, management, and any other course with a behavioral component. Just create a study and send students to it or project the experiment to the class.
  2. Assign students to create their own experiments. Students learn best through direct experience. Give them the chance to design and implement their own experiment in a safe and easy-to-use system.
  3. Have students conduct novel research for midterm or final projects. Students can use SRM Experiments to conduct a study from start to finish. They can create their own study, recruit participants, collect data, and analyze the results. SRM Experiments is ideal for a final class project.
If you're a researcher*, you can:
  1. Create your own studies. You can use our experiment templates to create your own customized study testing hypotheses in a variety of disciplines including cognitive psychology, political science, economics, and health.
  2. Recruit participants. You can publish your studies online for anyone in the world to participate. Recruit your friends or classmates, work with organizations in your field, or use social media to reach the population you're studying.
  3. Collect data. When people participate, you get the data. You can download as a CSV file for analysis in your preferred software, whether that's Excel, R, or anything in between.

*Note, if you're looking to create a customized experiment for research, you should use our parent platform, Volunteer Science.
