Introduction
Welcome and thank you for participating in this study. This study investigates the value of information
and how it affects decision-making.
As a participant in this study, you will be taking the role of as a customer shopping for various products
for different reasons. Based on the reviews, you will make a purchase decision The task is to read the available product reviews and
based on its importance to the background, make decisions on the value of the information you have been provided.
Before beginning the study, please complete a short demographic questionnaire.

Instructions
You are taking the role as a customer shopping for various products for different reasons.
To determine what action to take pertaining to the product, you will be reading multiple user reviews.
Each reviewer will have a reviewer rating from 0-5 stars, based on their verified helpfulness (see chart below). The task is to read the available product reviews and based on its context, importance to the background, and the reviewer make decisions on the value of information
you have been provided.
Example of Experiment
1. Read the background and initial product review.
2. Using the information, rate the level of priority (Priority of Purchase) and how much you trust the review (Review Trust).
3. Based on the information provided from the initial product review, determine the information value by making a decision action using the value scale.
Now you will be presented with an additional review for the product to read
4. Please rate the relationship of the additional review to the initial review (Relation of Review #1 to Initial Review)
5. Based on the information provided from the initial product review AND the additional product review,
determine the information value by updating the decision action on the value scale.
Finally, you will be presented with a second additional review for the product to read.
6. Please rate the relationship of the second additional review to the initial review (Relation of Review #2 to Initial Review)
7. Considering all of the reviews, determine the information value by updating the decision action on the value scale.

This experiment captures how individuals value pieces of information, and will also capture individuals opinions toward
decision-support agents. A decision-support agent is a system that assists individuals with completing goals and or tasks
that are based around decision-making.
The next page consists of a brief questionnaire that will measure your opinions and feelings toward decision-support agents.
