Please take 10-15 minutes to participate in this important scientific experiment.
Your participation in this experiment makes an important contribution to advance scientific research.

Before we start, we would like to get to know you a bit better. Please answer the following questions on your demographic background.

In this task you have been randomly paired with another person, whom we will refer to as the other. This other person is someone you do not know and you will remain mutually anonymous. All of your choices are completely confidential. You will be making a series of decisions about allocating resources between you and this other person. For each of the following questions, please indicate the distribution you prefer most by marking the respective position along the midline. You can only make one mark for each question.

Your decisions will yield money for both yourself and the other person. At the end of the study, we will randomly select three partipants. For each selected participant we will then randomly choose one of their answers and allocate $50 according to their choice. That is, each unit in the task below corresponds to $0.33 and if you are randomly selected to receive money, the amount of money you receive will depend on your decisions below.

There are no right or wrong answers, this is all about personal preferences. As you can see, your choices will influence both the amount of money you receive as well as the amount of money the other receives.

This is a practice round in which you can familiarize yourself with the experiment. The practice round will prepare you with a creative task similar to the main experiment. Please enter at least three ideas for non-traditional uses of a brick.

Imagine a device that can think, hear, see, and remember what happens around you. What will you use it for?

Problem Statement

The Future Technology Idea Contest introduces a new smart chip. This is a revolutionary technology that can make devices think, hear, see and moreover remember and understand many things around us. It is for personal, not industrial/large business use. Due to the chip’s very small size, devices embodying this technology can be worn/carried/used 24 hours a day.

They ask you to contribute ideas for products or services (including apps) for personal usage. They seek information on product features, benefits, uses, and design proposals.

Evaluation Criteria

Your idea will be evaluated by a jury according to the following criteria:

  • Novelty: How novel is the idea?
  • Value: What is the value of this idea if implemented?
  • Feasibility: How easy is it to implement this idea?
  • Elaboration: Is the idea is well elaborated?

Idea Entry

Please enter your idea below and describe the idea in terms of product design, technical solution, functions, benefits, and uses. Provide a full detailed description of your futuristic idea, addressing the following questions:

  • Who will use your idea? For what purpose?
  • What problem(s) does your idea solve?
  • What job(s) does it enable people to do?
  • How will your idea change the way people do something today or in the future?
  • In what phase of life will your idea be particularly relevant? (e.g., children, teenagers, adults, seniors?)

All ideas should be as detailed and comprehensible as possible. Please enter only one idea at a time. If you would like to submit more ideas, you can do so on the next screen.

Well done! We have received your idea!

Would you like to enter another idea?

Thank you for your participation.

Should your idea win a prize, please provide an email address so that we can contact you.
