In this task you have been randomly paired with another person, whom we will refer to as the other. This other person is someone you do not know and will remain mutually anonymous. All of your choices are completely confidential. You will be making a series of decisions about allocating resources between you and this other person. For each of the following questions, please indicate the distribution you prefer most by marking the respective position along the midline. You can only make one mark for each question.

Your decisions will yield tokens for both yourself and the other person.

Problem Statement

Recent advances in semiconductor technology have produced microchips with processing, memory, and communication functions that are the size of a thumb nail. These microchips allow the design of smart wearable electronic devices (e.g., smart watches and activity trackers). When equipped with appropriate sensors, these devices can record data to monitor activity, sleep, body temperature, and even reproductive health. When equipped with a display these devices allow to display time, emails, or notifications. When equipped with communication functions, these devices can be used to make phone calls and communicate with internet services.

They ask you to contribute ideas for products and services (including apps) for personal or business usage.


Evaluation Criteria

Your idea will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

  • Novelty: How novel is the idea?
  • Value: What is the value of this idea if implemented?
  • Feasibility: How easy is it to implement this idea?
  • Elaboration: Is the idea is well elaborated?
