Problem Statement

The no more plastic contest seeks to find innovative ideas to avoid or reduce plastic waste. The objective of the contest is to solicit ideas that address the following concerns related to plastic waste:

  • In 2050 we will have more plastic in the ocean than fish,
  • Every year 300 million tons of plastic are produced.
  • Half of all plastic products are designed for single use.
  • Around 8 million tons of plastic waste end up in our oceans.

We ask you to contribute ideas that help

  • companies, consumers, and/or governments to avoid/reduce plastic waste;
  • clean up oceans from plastic waste;
  • reuse plastic;
  • replace plastic and develop alternatives to plastic;
  • design plastic-free packaging alternatives.
