Game Behavior Study

 

Study Name: Game Behavior Study - MTurk

Purpose of this Research: The research aims to understand game play strategies and behaviors.

 

What You Will Be Asked to Do in this Research:

  1. Accept participation in the study by clicking on the button below.
  2. Go the provided website to answer several surveys that aim to assess your personality and collect basic demographic information. This will take approximately 40 minutes.
  3. Run the game through the provided website. Follow the instructions and play the game, which will last approximately 30 minutes.
  4. Your actions in the game will be logged so we can make use of them to understand your problem solving strategies.
  5. After your game session, you will be asked to read a debriefing document about the game and the study.

 

Risks and Discomforts: We don't expect there to be any risks or discomforts.

 

Benefits of the Research and Benefits to You: There will not be any direct benefit to you. However, you will have the opportunity to play a new game. You may learn more about the use of such technologies. You may also have an impact on the design and development of future games.

 

Compensation. You will be compensated for your time with a gift certificate in the amount $0.5+(virtually gained points*$1).

 

Withdrawal from the Study: You can withdraw your participation in the study at any time, for any reason, if you decide. In the event you withdraw from the study, all data associated with your session will be immediately destroyed wherever possible.

 

Confidentiality: All data will be safely stored on a secure server, hosted by our research group. The research data will only be used by research staff to understand and develop behavior models.

 

Please note that your answers will be kept by a secured server hosted by the research team located in the USA and as such is subject to U.S. laws.
