Purpose of this Research: The research aims to understand game play strategies and behaviors.
What You Will Be Asked
to Do in this Research:
Risks and Discomforts: We don’t expect there to be any
risks or discomforts. All materials including video data of the interaction and
interview data will be kept confidential. Note that if you are a student at
Northeastern, your performance in the course will not be affected by your participation
in this research study and the instructor is not involved in the research.
Benefits of the Research and
Benefits to You: There
will not be any direct benefit to you. However, you will have the opportunity
to play a new game. You may learn more about the use of such technologies. You may
also have an impact on the design and development of future games.
Compensation. You will be compensated for your
time with a gift certificate in the amount $0.5+(virtually gained points*$1).
Withdrawal from the
Study: You can
withdraw your participation in the study at any time, for any reason, if you decide.
Should you stop participating, or refuse to answer particular questions, this
will not affect your relationship with the researchers, Northeastern University,
or any other group associated with this project. In the event you withdraw from
the study, all data associated with your session will be immediately destroyed
wherever possible.
Confidentiality: All information you supply during the
research will be confidential, your name or any personal information will not
appear in any report or publication of the research. Interviews and video
recording of your play will be collected by trained and professional research
personnel from Northeastern University, and all data will be safely stored on a
secure server, hosted by our research group. The research data will only be
used by research staff to understand and develop behavior models.
Please note that your answers (excluding
your identification information) to the interview questions will be kept by a secured server hosted by the research team
located in the USA and as such is subject to U.S. laws. These interview data do
not include any personal identifiers or any information that may be used to
identify you.
