A human network is a system of interconnected people as represented by nodes and links. Networks are crucial because so many aspects of life are determined by human interaction and relationships, ranging from friends and family to academic and professional connections. They are also important to study because networks offer valuable insight into the patterns and dynamics of both individual and group interactions, providing knowledge that is useful across a variety of fields.
In this study, you will be working with a network that contains 15 nodes. You will receive both a written description of the network as well as a visualization depicting what the network looks like. You will also be given a list of questions pertaining to the network; some of which will address factors about the nodes, while others will address factors about the links. Your task is to use the provided materials to correctly answer all of the questions within the allotted time.
Node -- A connection point within a network. In this study, a node represents a person.
Link -- The connection between two nodes. Also known as "edges." In this study, a link represents a relationship.
Hop -- A portion of the path between source and destination as represented by nodes. A question that asks how many "hops" it takes to get from one node to another is essentially asking how many nodes are encountered along the journey.
InfiniteL00t is a small video game developer in Brisbane, Australia that specializes in the creation of indie games. Kit Boyer 8, the lead designer on the current project, is the main visionary of the game in development. As the lead, Kit 8 works very closely with several people in the company. One of these people is Axl Robinson 11, the art director, whose job it is to manage the art team as well as coordinate with the rest of the development team. The art team is comprised of Claire Felippe 12, Zack Pongratz 13, Hunter Bisio 10, and Ben Pennington 14. Claire 12 and Zack 13 are both 2D artists, producing concept art, backdrops and terrain images, and user interface. They usually work together. Hunter 10 and Ben 14, on the other hand, are the team's 3D artists. Hunter 10 usually works on animation and 3D environment, while Ben's 14 primary focus is cinematics. They both communicate regularly with Axl 11, however they work separately. Hunter 10 typically works closest with Erin Goulet 9, InfiniteL00t's main level designer, who gets her directives from Kit 8. In addition to Axl 11, Kit 8 also works very closely with Dave Ghosh 7, the lead programmer for the development team. Dave 7 manages a sizeable group of programmers who all work together to coordinate the various aspects of the game's codebase development. Quinn Scherban 6 works on physics and programs the game engine, including simulating collision and object movement. Tom Cheung 5 works with AI techniques, such as planning and scripting. Samantha Galasti 4 is the lead programmer for game graphics and also produces user interface elements. Hayden Morrison 2 works on gameplay and game tools. Carl Czulak 3 is the sound engineer; however sometimes Hayden 2 also helps with music and speech integration. When this is the case, they both work with Jack Hulick 1, who composes the musical score for most of InfiniteL00t's games. Following a game's completion, Ray Lillis 15 is always the first to test InfiniteL00t's finished products and communicates any issues or bugs to both Dave 7 and Axl 11.
