Try that again.
Welcome!! Please read all instructions before starting:
- A. For this activity, we will measure your reaction time and accuracy. Each trial will start with a white cross '+' in the middle of the screen (see figure). Keep your eyes focused here.
- B. After a brief interval the + cross may flash red or you may hear a sound. Both of these events indicates a target is going to appear and you should prepare to respond. Sometimes no flash or sound will appear.
- C. Next a series of 5 arrows will be displayed and you should respond as fast and as accurately
as you can to the center arrow. Press 'k' with your right index finger if the center arrow points to the right
(>) or press 'a' with your left index finger if the center arrow points to the left (<).
For example:
>>>>> and <<><< both require a 'k' response, and
>><>> and <<<<< both require an 'a' response.
This experiment requires you to listen for a tone, so please make sure your volume is turned to 50% and you can clearly hear the sound either through headphones or speakers.
You will complete four practice trials to get familiar with the task and receive short breaks during the task.
Your answers will be recorded automatically.
Things to remember:
- Keep your eyes focused on the center + cross

- Respond as quickly and as accurately as possible each time
- Use your right index finger on the 'k' key for middle arrows pointed to the right (>)
- Use your left index finger on the 'a' key for middle arrows pointed to the left (<)
